Marine Operator

About the role

The Marine Operator will play a pivotal role in ensuring reliable vessel schedules and cost‑effective ocean execution for a leading intra‑Asia container logistics provider. You will be responsible for managing proforma schedules, bunker consumption, and day‑to‑day vessel operations while collaborating with terminals, ports, and third‑party agencies.

Key responsibilities

• Own and manage proforma vessel schedules, service drivers, and associated operational costs.
• Monitor and improve vessel schedule reliability, anticipate delays and implement mitigation plans.
• Direct day‑to‑day vessel operations, providing clear instructions to local agents and terminals.
• Control bunker consumption, aiming to beat proforma targets and reduce operating costs.
• Identify and raise vessel performance issues, handling incident communication and recovery planning.
• Maintain accurate system updates and communicate realistic schedules to all stakeholders.
• Participate in network change processes, evaluating service requirements and off‑hire/charter cost accounting.
• Conduct marine operation reviews and suggest continuous improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of marine operations, vessel designs and performance.
• Understanding of container logistics, terminal operations and port limitations.
• Experience managing bunker consumption and other operational cost controls.
• Proven ability to interact with external stakeholders such as vessel command, terminals, ports and third‑party agencies.
• Analytical mindset with the capacity to anticipate schedule risks and develop contingency plans.
