Naval Architect – Salvage Operations

About the role

SMIT Salvage is looking for a motivated Naval Architect to support a variety of salvage and wreck‑removal projects worldwide. You will work closely with Salvage Masters, Superintendents and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe and efficient ship recovery.

Key responsibilities

• Perform technical feasibility calculations for salvage projects during the tender phase, based on client requirements, available equipment and local regulations.
• Collect vessel data and execute complex technical calculations using modelling software.
• Design and devise technical solutions for project‑specific challenges such as damage repair, towing connections, lifting and pulling plans.
• Develop computational methods for salvage and wreck‑removal operations.
• Explain technical aspects of projects to clients, experts and authorities.
• Guide and assess subcontractors during preparation and execution phases.

Required profile

• Eager to learn and take accountability.
• Business‑oriented with a flexible, hands‑on attitude.
• Willingness to work internationally and travel to disaster sites.
• Background in shipbuilding with experience as a designer, engineer or constructor.
