Robot Operator

About the role

Cortex is seeking full‑time Robot Operators to drive large‑scale data collection for embodied AI. You will work at the intersection of robotics and artificial intelligence, capturing high‑value manipulation data that fuels next‑generation models.

Key responsibilities

• Operate robotic arms and grippers via teleoperation systems to perform tasks such as picking, placing, assembling, sorting, and tool handling.
• Capture synchronized robot‑centric data (joint states, sensor feedback, camera feeds, gripper signals) during each session.
• Wear a VR headset to perform comparable physical tasks, recording egocentric visual and sensor data.
• Maintain detailed metadata logs covering object type, tool, environment, and outcome.
• Perform basic mechanical and electrical maintenance on robots, arms, grippers, and sensors.
• Assist in setting up new workcells, including mechanical mounting, cabling, calibration, and safety verification.
• Monitor robot behavior, log anomalies, and support troubleshooting of connectivity or hardware issues.

Required profile

• Strong hand‑eye coordination, spatial reasoning, and meticulous attention to detail.
• Physically capable of manual manipulation tasks and wearing a VR headset for extended periods.
• Hands‑on experience with robotic arms, teleoperation systems, or automation equipment.
• Comfortable working with tools, sensors, and mechanical fixtures.
• Methodical, safety‑conscious, and motivated to thrive in a fast‑paced, experimental environment.
