Room Controller

About the role

The Room Controller ensures smooth guest arrivals and departures by managing room assignments, registrations, and key distribution. Working within the Rooms & Guest Services Operations team, you will support both individual guests and group arrivals while maintaining high service standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assign rooms according to guest preferences and requests.
• Pre‑register designated guests and prepare key packets.
• Organise and coordinate check‑in and pre‑registration procedures for arriving groups.
• Track, review and accommodate room change or checkout requests, communicating status to relevant staff.
• Confirm reservations, process cancellations and monitor out‑of‑order rooms daily.
• Ensure room rates align with market codes and document any exceptions.
• Verify and adjust guest billing, secure valid payment and identify over‑commitments.
• Perform duplicate reservation checks, block rooms and run daily operational reports.
• Welcome guests, address service needs, assist guests with disabilities and maintain professional appearance.
• Coordinate tasks with other departments and serve as a role model for the team.

Required profile

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Less than one year of related hospitality experience.
• No supervisory experience required.
• Ability to stand, sit or walk for extended periods and lift objects up to 10 lb.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality.

Required skills

• Proficiency in using computers and point‑of‑sale (POS) systems for data entry and information retrieval.
