Senior Cybersecurity Engineer, Defense Operations

About the role

Motional is looking for a Senior Cybersecurity Engineer to strengthen its Defense Operations team. This position sits at the front line of the security program, handling incident response, tool administration, and continuous improvement across on‑premise, SaaS, and cloud services.

Key responsibilities

• Act as a frontline incident responder, managing detection, containment, eradication, remediation, and recovery.
• Lead post‑incident reviews to drive security improvements.
• Serve as the primary APAC interface with the managed detection and response (MDR) provider for triage, escalation, and threat hunting.
• Administer and optimize core Defense Operations tools, including SIEM, EDR, cloud security, email security, and vulnerability management.
• Enhance cloud security processes and tooling in partnership with internal cybersecurity and engineering teams.
• Guide cross‑functional teams (DevOps, IT, HR, Engineering) to identify and mitigate cybersecurity risks.
• Provide technical strategy for the end‑to‑end vulnerability management program and support timely remediation of critical findings.
• Design, document, and operationalize security procedures, playbooks, and runbooks for MDR and other third‑party services.

Required profile

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands‑on experience in cybersecurity operations, SOC, incident response, or engineering.
• Proven ability to analyze alerts and logs from SIEM, EDR, SEG, CNAPP, IAM, OS, and application sources.
• Experience with incident response frameworks such as NIST or ISO.
• Strong understanding of cloud‑native security, preferably with AWS exposure.
