Senior Forensic Scientist (Pharmacology)

About the role

HTX, Singapore's Science and Technology agency, is seeking a Senior Forensic Scientist to join its Forensics Centre of Expertise (CoE). The role focuses on pharmacology, leading research that enhances Singapore's ability to detect, investigate, and respond to drug‑related threats.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct horizon scanning to identify emerging technologies and translate them into forensic capabilities for Home Team departments and partner agencies.
• Design, develop and validate new forensic methods and analytical capabilities addressing operational needs.
• Lead end‑to‑end project delivery, managing budgets, timelines and stakeholder communications.
• Develop subject‑matter expertise, staying current with advances in forensic instrumentation and methods.
• Collaborate with local and international academic, industry, and forensic partners to co‑create innovative methodologies.
• Maintain strong relationships with Home Team stakeholders and HTX leadership.
• Prepare ethical submissions, including institutional review board applications.
• Mentor junior researchers and oversee daily laboratory operations, procurement, equipment maintenance and inventory.
• Ensure compliance with quality assurance and workplace safety standards.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (MSc/PhD) in Pharmacology, Toxicology, Forensic Science or a related discipline.
• Significant experience (typically 7+ years) in forensic drug analysis and method development.
• Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary research projects.
• Strong communication skills for stakeholder engagement and mentorship.
