Senior Linux System Engineer – Team Lead

About the role

NCS is seeking a Senior Linux System Engineer to lead a small team and manage its Linux‑based infrastructure across a hybrid IT environment. The role focuses on ensuring the health, performance, and security of servers and containers while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key responsibilities

• Install, rebuild, and configure Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Red Hat OpenShift, Oracle Linux and related components according to governance and audit requirements.
• Maintain Standard Operating Procedures for OS patching, backup & recovery, hardening and deviations in partnership with customers.
• Perform daily system checks, monitoring, troubleshooting and service recovery.
• Support day‑1 implementations and day‑2 operational activities, including user account changes and software updates.
• Coordinate with storage, network and other infrastructure towers to meet customer objectives.
• Execute monthly and ad‑hoc OS patching for Linux servers and containers.
• Monitor performance, produce monthly health reports, and recommend upgrades or resource optimisation.
• Resolve infrastructure incidents, escalations to vendors, and provide support to application teams.
• Participate in rotating night or weekend standby as required.
• Lead and mentor junior team members.

Required profile

• Singapore citizenship (government project sensitivity).
• 5–7 years of hands‑on Linux experience.
• Experience with Windows Server 2019, PowerShell scripting, networking (routing & switching) and Microsoft Active Directory.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
