Senior Process Engineer – Defectivity

About the role

ASM is seeking a Senior Process Engineer specialized in defectivity to drive reduction of defects and improve processes across front‑end wafer manufacturing. You will use data‑driven problem solving and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enhance equipment reliability and product quality.

Key responsibilities

• Lead investigations into defectivity issues affecting wafer processing equipment and manufacturing processes.
• Identify and resolve equipment‑, process‑, handling‑, and material‑induced defect mechanisms.
• Analyze defect signatures using maps, spatial distributions, wafer trends and performance metrics.
• Apply structured problem‑solving methods such as DOE, statistical analysis, failure analysis and root‑cause investigations.
• Drive corrective and preventive actions and validate long‑term effectiveness with data‑based verification.
• Investigate contamination sources, particle generation, material interactions, mechanical and environmental influences.
• Partner with engineering teams to improve defect performance, process robustness and manufacturability.
• Present technical findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience in semiconductor front‑end wafer processing.
• Proven ability to lead complex defect investigations and drive continuous improvement.
• Strong analytical mindset with data‑driven decision making.
• Excellent communication skills for presenting technical results to senior audiences.
