Senior Software Engineer – Secure Element (Google Wallet)

About the role

Google’s Payments team builds the technology that powers consumer and business payments across Google services. As a Senior Software Engineer focused on Secure Element and Google Wallet, you will design and deliver high‑impact Android solutions that enable secure, seamless payments.

Key responsibilities

• Write, test, and maintain production code for payment‑related Android components.
• Lead or participate in design reviews, evaluating technology choices with peers and stakeholders.
• Review code contributions, ensuring adherence to style, testability, and performance standards.
• Maintain and improve documentation and educational content for internal and external users.
• Triage and resolve system issues, analyzing impacts on hardware, network, and service quality.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of software development experience in Java or Kotlin.
• 3+ years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
• 1+ year of experience designing large‑scale applications and system architecture.
• Preferred: Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, technical leadership experience, and a track record of driving technical initiatives.
• Experience building complex Android applications, including hardware integration (NFC, secure elements, smartcards, trusted execution environments) and interfacing with system services such as Google Mobile Services.
