Software Development Engineer – PostgreSQL Contributors (Remote)

About the role

Amazon Web Services is seeking a remote Software Development Engineer to join the PostgreSQL Contributors Team. You will work on the core PostgreSQL database engine, contributing code, fixes, and extensions while collaborating directly with the PostgreSQL open‑source community.

Key responsibilities

• Author and review PostgreSQL core engine code in the official Git repository.
• Participate in design discussions, bug triage, and architecture reviews on public mailing lists.
• Develop new features, drivers, and extensions for PostgreSQL.
• Perform patch reviews, testing, security assessments, and performance benchmarking.
• Engage in commit‑fest discussions and community outreach.

Required profile

• Strong experience with PostgreSQL internals and open‑source contribution workflows.
• Proficiency in C programming and Linux development environments.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate remotely with a global engineering team.
• Solid understanding of database engine architecture, security, and performance optimization.
