Software Engineer, Consumer Payments (Google Pay)

About the role

Google is looking for a Software Engineer to join the Consumer Payments team in Singapore. You will design, develop, and launch backend features that power Google Pay, including new e‑wallet integrations and Account‑to‑Account (A2A) payment capabilities.

Key responsibilities

• Architect and deliver critical infrastructure for e‑wallet and A2A payment features.
• Develop and maintain high‑availability backend services using Java and C++.
• Collaborate with product managers, UX designers, business development, and global engineering teams to drive features from concept to production.
• Improve distributed systems performance and reliability.
• Advocate and integrate AI‑assisted development tools to increase engineering velocity.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of software development experience in Java, C++ or similar languages.
• Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and software design.
• Experience with the full software development lifecycle and building scalable backend architectures, preferably in FinTech or payments.
• Familiarity with the payment landscape (e‑wallets, A2A, national rails) and a track record of launching high‑availability features.
