Systems Specialist – Mainframe Backup & z/OS

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Systems Specialist to manage and support mainframe backup environments in Singapore. You will ensure the reliability, security, and performance of critical backup systems, working closely with hardware and software vendors.

Key responsibilities

• Administer and maintain CA-1 backup system, z/OS operating system, JCL, tape management systems, automated tape libraries and backup hardware such as Data Domain, ECS and Hitachi CGX.
• Perform security patching, hardening and upgrades of the above software components.
• Install and configure backup software and related hardware.
• Monitor system performance, conduct capacity planning for backup storage, and review logs for issues.
• Collaborate with vendors to resolve technical problems and participate in technical exercises as needed.

Required profile

• 3‑5 years of experience with mainframe backup systems, specifically CA-1.
• Strong knowledge of z/OS and JCL.
• Understanding of mainframe storage concepts (DASD, tape, virtual storage).
• Experience with tape management and automated tape libraries.
• Ability to work beyond regular business hours, including weekends.
• Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
