Training Officer

About the role

The Training Officer will work within MINDS to empower persons with intellectual disabilities (PWIDs) by teaching, training and supervising them to achieve greater independence in daily living, community participation and work readiness.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver individualized training in Activities of Daily Living, Home Living, Community Mobility, Social and Recreational skills.
• Develop and implement Individual Learning Programmes (ILP) based on professional assessments.
• Plan and facilitate group activities, ensuring safety and security procedures are followed.
• Support allied health professionals by monitoring health‑fitness, behaviour management and sensory awareness programmes.
• Maintain accurate records of attendance, participation and progress in client management systems.
• Engage with caregivers, conduct home visits and communicate critical information to social workers and centre managers.
• Assist in organising camps, festive celebrations, sports events, first‑aid, evacuation planning and transport duties.

Required profile

• Experience working with PWIDs or in special‑needs education.
• Ability to assess client needs, design tailored learning plans and monitor progress.
• Strong communication skills for interaction with clients, caregivers, allied health staff and management.
• Commitment to safety, confidentiality and inclusive practices.
