Assistant Engineering Manager (Landfill Management and Operations) - Contract

About the role

The Landfill Management and Operations Department oversees Tuas Marine Transfer Station and Semakau Landfill, Singapore's only landfill for waste disposal. This contract position is for an Assistant Engineering Manager who supports the engineer in running safe waste-receiving operations at the two sites.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the engineer in overseeing safe waste receiving operations at the transfer station and landfill slipways.
• Coordinate operational and safety matters with stakeholders so that landfill operations, maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment and operation of tugs and barges follow the plan.
• Supervise contractors on site, ensuring work is done safely and does not disrupt operations.
• Attend to maintenance and repair works so they are completed within the set timeline.
• Help review traffic management plans at the sites.
• Prepare and call quotations for building and infrastructure maintenance, and check that there is enough spare parts for landfill equipment.
• Carry out other duties assigned by supervisors.

Required profile

• At least a diploma in any discipline; engineering background preferred.
• Fresh diploma graduates are welcome; candidates with at least 3 years of experience in construction, waste management, facility management or a related field are preferred.
• Procurement and contract management experience preferred.
• Willing and able to work morning and afternoon shifts including weekends, and to be deployed at both locations.
• Able to work independently with minimal supervision and in harsh conditions.
