Staff Mechanical Engineer - Data Center Power Equipment

About the role

Axiom, which builds the digital and electrical infrastructure for the AI era, is looking for a Staff Mechanical Engineer based in Kallang, Singapore. The engineer leads mechanical design for power supply units (PSU), baseboard units (BBU), power conversion units (PCU) and shelves used in data centers.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design for PSU, BBU, PCU and data center shelf products
• Develop 3D models and drawings for metal and plastic enclosures, PCBA and components using CREO/PRO-E
• Independently complete mechanical work such as engineering BOMs, specification drawings, documents and packaging designs
• Analyze test failure modes, including tolerance stack-up analysis, and review mechanical, thermal, acoustic and reliability test reports
• Work with cross-functional teams to design products and meet customer expectations
• Create product specifications and manufacturing instructions to support project launch
• Review and address design-for-manufacturing issues early with the manufacturing team and vendors

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering
• Minimum 10 years of mechanical design experience and at least 8 years in sheet metal and plastic enclosure design
• Good English communication skills for a multinational design and operating team
• Preferred: familiarity with energy storage systems, metal chassis, battery pack, busbar, high-current DC connector, safety insulation, PCB stacking and package design validation
• Preferred: understanding of thermal design for cabinets or racks, knowledge of convection cooling, experience with ORV3 BBU/PSU/power shelf products, and UN38.3 or UL1973/UL9540/UL9540A experience

Required skills

• 3D modeling; CREO preferred
• Ability to use simple machine tools for part modification and rework at prototype or design stages
