Assistant Manager, Communications & Engagement – Road & Pedestrian Safety

About the role

You will join the Road & Pedestrian Safety Division to shape how the organisation communicates and engages the public and stakeholders on road and path safety. Working at the intersection of policy, communications and public engagement, you will translate complex safety data into compelling narratives and build partnerships that extend the reach of safety initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute communications strategies for road and path safety policies from early engagement through implementation.
• Transform technical and policy information into clear, audience‑focused messages.
• Build and activate stakeholder networks with credible voices, industry partners and community organisations.
• Design integrated campaigns across media, social, digital and on‑ground channels.
• Use data, behavioural insights and public sentiment to identify opportunities, refine strategies and evaluate impact.
• Manage agencies and partners delivering campaign content and engagement activities.
• Prepare high‑impact communications materials such as talking points, media briefs, presentations and briefing notes.

Required profile

• Strong communicator able to make complex issues clear, relevant and accessible.
• Excellent writing, presentation and storytelling abilities.
• Proven stakeholder‑management skills with experience building trusted relationships across diverse organisations.
• Good judgement, initiative and the ability to work independently while handling multiple priorities.

Required skills

• Familiarity with media, social and digital platforms for content distribution and audience engagement.
