Buyer/Planner 3 – Procurement & Production Planning

About the role

KLA is seeking a Buyer/Planner 3 to support the procurement of direct materials, components and equipment for its semiconductor manufacturing operations. The role combines purchasing activities with production planning to ensure timely material availability and drive cost efficiencies.

Key responsibilities

• Purchase direct materials, components and equipment based on MRP or reorder point triggers.
• Review planning reports to guarantee material availability for production schedules.
• Negotiate pricing, rework costs and expediting fees to improve gross margin.
• Reduce material lead times through supplier cycle‑time improvements, hedging and VMI programs.
• Manage purchase order execution and resolve supplier quality, capacity or material issues.
• Communicate early or delayed deliveries with suppliers and drive on‑time delivery performance.
• Participate in supplier business reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Process ECO/EOM claims, execute ECN/ECO changes, and minimize excess inventory.
• Collaborate with Inventory Analyst on quarterly reviews and actions to improve inventory turns.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Logistics or a related field (or equivalent diploma).
• 2–5 years of experience in buying and production planning, preferably in a low‑volume, high‑mix manufacturing environment.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with MRP systems.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Experience using SAP (highly desirable).
• Basic understanding of Bill of Materials (BOM).
