Event Sales Director – Japanese Market (Singapore)

About the role

Our client, a leading global B2B events company, is launching its first operations in Japan from its Singapore hub. They are looking for an Event Sales Director who can drive market entry, build relationships with Japanese corporations and establish a high‑performing sales team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement a go‑to‑market strategy to introduce the events portfolio across target verticals in Japan.
• Identify and secure new business opportunities with corporations, trade associations and government‑linked entities.
• Build and nurture relationships with senior decision‑makers in the Japanese market.
• Recruit, mentor and lead an initial sales team, setting KPIs and sales processes.
• Align local activities with global stakeholders, adapting offerings to Japanese regulatory and cultural expectations.
• Own the P&L for the Japan region, meeting revenue and booking targets.
• Act as a strategic advisor to C‑suite clients, positioning events as solutions for their growth objectives.

Required profile

• Native or near‑native Japanese language proficiency (business level, JLPT N1/N2).
• 8+ years of B2B sales experience, preferably in events, hospitality, MICE or professional services.
• Proven “hunter” mindset with a track record of building business in new markets.
• Demonstrated ability to create sales processes from scratch and manage a small team.
• Strong cultural intelligence and ability to operate in a fast‑moving startup environment.

Required skills

• Extensive B2B sales expertise within the events or related sectors.
• Fluency in English and Japanese for high‑stakes negotiations.
