Executive / Assistant Executive - Mandai Crematorium

About the role

The Mandai Operations Department, which oversees the operation and maintenance of government cemeteries, crematoria and columbaria, is looking for resourceful and service-oriented people to join its team at a Mandai crematorium. The role provides after-death care services and calls for professionalism and dignity alongside technical duties in an emotionally challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive and verify documents and authorisations before cremation and ash collection
• Operate cremation equipment such as cremators, mechanised trolleys and insertion machines according to safety protocols and internal procedures
• Handle human remains respectfully, following identification and tracking protocols
• Keep cremation and ash collection records up to date in line with legal requirements
• Manage feedback from funeral service providers and next-of-kin, and coordinate with funeral directors and families
• Respond to equipment faults and keep the crematorium clean and dignified
• Perform other duties assigned by the supervisor

Required profile

• Relevant technical experience in mechanical or electrical engineering or equivalent
• Understanding of cremation equipment operation, safety protocols and environmental compliance
• Emotional resilience and the ability to stay professional around death and grieving families
• Attention to detail and strong interpersonal skills with bereaved families and funeral professionals
• Able to work independently and on rotating shifts including weekends and public holidays
• Comfortable working with remains and exposed to high-temperature equipment; able to stand for long periods and lift occasionally
