Food & Beverage Assistant

About the role

The Food & Beverage Assistant supports the smooth operation of the hospital’s dietary services. This role blends administrative, operational, and customer‑service tasks to ensure patients receive accurate and timely meals.

Key responsibilities

• Manage diet control administration and patient meal‑related matters.
• Handle telephone enquiries, record messages and follow up with relevant departments.
• Collate and update meal data for kitchen production summaries.
• Generate daily meal summaries and patient meal chits via the electronic ordering system and distribute them to kitchen sections.
• Maintain daily reports of events, complaints and actions taken.
• Assist the kitchen team during meal assembly, plating and tray loading.
• Monitor operational KPIs and report discrepancies to the Reporting Officer.
• Coordinate with dietitians, speech therapists and nursing staff on meal requirements.
• Requisition, control and stock‑take office supplies; maintain inventory management system.
• Organise and deliver goods to relevant departments and prepare meeting minutes.

Required profile

• Diploma in Food Science, Food Nutrition or related field (preferred).
• Minimum 2 years of relevant experience (preferred).
• Strong communication, interpersonal and phone etiquette skills.
• High IT literacy and ability to work in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
• Proficient in spoken and written English.
• Ability to perform manual handling of heavy items.
• Willingness to work a 5‑day week with shift duties, weekends and public holidays.
