Operations Technical Officer

About the role

The Operations Technical Officer is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a combined‑cycle power plant. Working closely with the ASCE, SCE and PSCE, the role ensures that plant processes meet contractual, technical and commercial requirements while adhering to all regulatory and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Operate the power plant according to procedures, including start‑up, loading, unloading and shutdown of all systems.
• Support ASCE/SCE/PSCE in meeting contractual and commercial obligations of the station.
• Monitor and control plant processes from the DCS control room, recording operating data and reporting abnormalities.
• Perform troubleshooting, analysis and testing of plant process conditions as needed.
• Execute isolation and normalization tasks in line with the Permit‑to‑Work system.
• Handle plant chemistry matters, including waste discharge management.
• Carry out plant change‑overs, equipment testing and ensure statutory compliance.
• Assist in long‑term station planning, modern O&M practices, CMMS utilization and quality management system implementation.
• Communicate with regulatory authorities on operational matters and participate in training programmes.

Required profile

• Higher National Diploma or equivalent certificate in an engineering discipline (preferred).
• NTC 2 certified boiler attendant.
• Minimum five years of operation experience in a combined‑cycle power plant, with DCS exposure.
• Experience with gas turbine technical and maintenance aspects is advantageous.
• Familiarity with plant chemistry, waste handling and modern HSE practices.
