Planner / Senior Planner - Environmental Design

About the role

JTC is looking for a Planner or Senior Planner to champion environmentally sustainable and ecologically friendly designs and best practices within its Sustainability by Planning & Design workstream. The role establishes planning and design strategies, standards, methodologies and solutions suited to JTC industrial estates and developments, such as biophilic design and nature-based solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Strengthen in-house capability to develop conceptual plans and designs for environmental design scopes, such as landscape master plans, streetscapes and integrated green and blue infrastructure, as part of master planning and urban design for JTC estates.
• Work with internal planning and design divisions on environmentally sustainable estates, including analysis and assessment of impacts and practical mitigation measures, such as ecosystem and biodiversity conservation, nature-based solutions for surface runoff, flood zones and coastal erosion, and assessments of impacts on wetlands and habitats.
• Liaise with agencies to establish or review environmental design frameworks, processes and policies such as Green Cover, LUSH, WSUD and GreenMark.
• Oversee projects going through the government's EIA framework, balancing biodiversity-rich areas with development to meet Singapore's needs for economic growth and food resilience.

Required profile

• Officers with relevant disciplines in Engineering, Architecture or Planning.
• Experience in Environmental Planning, Ecological Studies or Landscape Architecture is an advantage.
