Process Control Defectivity Engineer – Semiconductor Metrology
Applied Materials South East Asia · Singapour
Job description
About the role
The Process Control Defectivity Engineer will strengthen our defect characterization and yield engineering capability for high‑volume semiconductor and display manufacturing. You will work with cutting‑edge metrology tools, analyze defect data, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to drive yield improvements.
Key responsibilities
- Operate SEMVision to review defects and perform high‑resolution imaging of defect morphology.
- Classify defects manually and via Automatic Defect Classification, building and maintaining ADC recipes and libraries.
- Perform EDX elemental analysis to identify defect composition and contamination sources.
- Analyze defect Pareto, wafer maps and spatial trends to separate systematic from random defects.
- Drive root‑cause analysis and coordinate follow‑up failure analysis (FIB, TEM, STEM/EDS, Auger, SIMS).
- Correlate defect data with inline metrology, electrical test and yield data to quantify kill ratio and impact.
- Collaborate with process integration teams (litho, etch, deposition, CMP, clean) to implement corrective actions and verify defect reduction.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- 2+ years of experience in semiconductor defect review, yield, process or failure‑analysis engineering (strong new graduates with relevant internships are welcome).
- Basic knowledge of semiconductor front‑end and back‑end process flows and yield analysis concepts.
Required skills
- Hands‑on experience with SEMVision or similar defect‑review SEM.
- Proficiency in EDX/EDS, FIB, TEM, Auger or SIMS for failure analysis.
- Familiarity with data‑analysis tools such as JMP, Excel; Python or scripting a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities using structured root‑cause methods.
What we offer
- Supportive work culture that encourages learning, development and career growth.
- Health and wellbeing programs, including personal and professional support.
- Opportunities to work on cutting‑edge semiconductor and display technologies in a global leader.
