Regulatory Manager & Counsel (APAC)

About the role

We are seeking a commercially‑minded regulatory lawyer to join our fast‑moving APAC team. You will advise senior stakeholders on complex legal and regulatory matters, helping the business navigate payments, financial services and emerging technology regulations across multiple jurisdictions.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor, analyse and interpret legal and regulatory developments across APAC and translate them into practical implementation strategies.
• Lead regulatory engagements, including supervisory enquiries, consultations, examinations and policy initiatives.
• Manage the full lifecycle of licences and approvals – applications, variations, maintenance and notifications.
• Provide advice on payments regulation, licensing, governance and other strategic regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, Government Affairs, Risk, Control Management and business teams to deliver consistent, risk‑based solutions.

Required profile

• Qualified lawyer in a Commonwealth jurisdiction with strong academic credentials.
• 3–7 years post‑qualification experience in a top‑tier law firm or large multinational corporation, preferably in financial services, payments or a regulated industry.
• Regional APAC experience and prior in‑house exposure are advantageous.
• Exceptional oral and written communication, with the ability to distil complex issues into clear, concise advice.
• Proactive, accountable self‑starter comfortable operating with ambiguity.

Required skills

• Strong drafting skills for regulatory submissions, legal memoranda and executive communications.
• Commercial judgment to deliver practical, risk‑based solutions.
• Stakeholder management across functions and geographies.
• Organisational ability to manage competing priorities across multiple jurisdictions.
