Research Assistant (Computer Vision & Deep Learning)

About the role

Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, through its College of Computing and Data Science, is looking for a Research Assistant in computer engineering, computer science or electronics engineering. The role sits within a research-intensive environment focused on AI, data science and computing, working closely with the principal investigator (PI) and collaborators.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and development in computer vision, multimodal learning, medical/industrial imaging and related AI4X topics.
• Design, implement, train and evaluate deep learning models and research prototypes using Python/PyTorch and related tools.
• Prepare and curate research datasets, run quantitative and qualitative experiments and analyse results rigorously.
• Review literature, identify baselines, datasets, evaluation protocols and research opportunities.
• Contribute to technical reports, project deliverables, research papers, code repositories and presentations.
• Take part in research meetings, collaborate with the PI and collaborators, and carry out other duties assigned by the PI.

Required profile

• Preferably a Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, Computer Science, Electronics Engineering or equivalent.
• Independent, analytical, proactive and a team player with good verbal and written communication.
• Ability to formulate hypotheses, design experiments and report project progress.
• Willingness to work some flexible hours; only shortlisted candidates will be notified.

Required skills

• In-depth knowledge of the project domain and demonstrated capability to conduct innovative research.
• High-level expertise in the required experiment or modelling methods.
• Ability to initiate collaboration research in a multidisciplinary team.
