Research Fellow - Embodied AI & Dex Hands

About the role

The School of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) is seeking a Research Fellow to join its team focused on integrating multimodal large language models (LLMs) with embodied AI. The fellow will develop and deploy Vision-Language-Action (VLA) models for real-world robotic applications such as autonomous task execution and human-robot interaction.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement VLA models and world models.
• Develop and optimise deep learning algorithms so robotic arms can perform complex tasks guided by natural language instructions.
• Use PyTorch to train and fine-tune models on multimodal datasets.
• Experiment with and deploy vision-language-action models on robotic platforms.
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to advance embodied intelligence.
• Publish high-quality research in top-tier conferences and journals.

Required profile

• Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, AI or a related field.
• At least 4 first-author papers on AI and robotics.
• Hands-on experience with robotic systems, particularly robotic arms.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and contribute to collaborative projects.

Required skills

• Expertise in deep learning, multimodal LLMs and Vision-Language-Action models.
• Strong Python programming, with significant PyTorch experience.
• Familiarity with human-robot interaction and reinforcement learning is a plus.
