Security Officer

About the role

GESS, one of Singapore's leading international schools serving students from over 70 nations, is looking for a Security Officer. The postholder acts as the first point of contact for the school, presents the campus as a friendly and service-oriented organisation and maintains safety procedures on the premises. The position is full time and permanent.

Key responsibilities

• Represent the school courteously and professionally, manning the assigned security point until a formal handover to the next shift is made.
• Guard, patrol and monitor the premises to prevent theft, violence and unauthorised access by people or vehicles.
• Ensure buildings are locked at the end of the day and unlocked in time for opening, and allow access for authorised personnel.
• Direct and control vehicle and bus traffic on campus and the main road in line with parking restrictions and written procedures.
• Prevent students from leaving the campus without an accompanying adult or a signed exit pass.
• Check the identity of all visitors, issue visitor cards against photographic ID, and keep accurate records of visitor entry and departure.
• Know emergency procedures and work closely with the Security Supervisor, reporting security concerns to the line manager and covering other officers' duties when needed.
• Monitor the Fire Command Center (FCC) systems, including elevators, CCTV, access control and alarms, and report faults and emergencies to the authorities such as FDAS.
• Assist with card access enrolment, issuance and deactivation, conduct routine safety inspections, and help with traffic control and other safety measures.
• Assist in calling taxis for visitors and staff, and carry out other duties assigned by the Security Supervisor, Facility Administrator or Facility Manager.

Required profile

• Prior experience as a security officer, preferably in a school setting.
• Certified security officer in Singapore.
