About the role
Google’s Debug Project is building automated solutions to control mosquito‑borne diseases. As a Senior Mechanical Engineer you will join a multidisciplinary team of biologists, software engineers and automation experts to design, develop and launch electromechanical systems for sterile‑mosquito release.
Key responsibilities
- Design, build and integrate automated systems using servo mechanisms, pneumatics, sensors and drive components.
- Lead the full product lifecycle from requirement definition and prototype validation to production launch.
- Test prototypes and released products with real‑world users, troubleshoot production issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Apply engineering tools such as CAD, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and Design for Manufacturing (DFA) to verify performance.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers, scientists, software engineers and operations teams to solve unique technical challenges.
- Lead technical projects, improve existing processes and contribute to multi‑year roadmaps for Debug Singapore.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 5 years of experience designing plastic or metal components, assemblies, PCBs or flex circuits.
- 5 years of hands‑on experience with CAD tools such as 3D MCAD, NX, Creo or SolidWorks.
- Proven ability to lead technical initiatives from concept to scale and mentor junior engineers.
- Excellent communication skills and experience working in multidisciplinary teams.
