Senior Procurement Engineer

About the role

Sulzer is looking for a Senior Procurement Engineer to lead strategic sourcing and procurement for engineered equipment, fabricated packages, subcontracted services and project buyouts supporting Process Solutions projects and operations. The role covers procurement strategy, supplier management, commercial negotiations, supplier risk mitigation, project procurement execution and cost optimisation, and acts as the procurement focal point for complex, high-value packages.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and run sourcing strategies, lead procurement planning and bidding, and drive cost competitiveness through supplier benchmarking and best-cost sourcing
• Manage procurement from requisition to delivery for critical project packages, including engineered equipment, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, skids, valves, piping and subcontracted services
• Lead supplier qualification, audits, performance reviews and relationship management, and support the Approved Vendor List
• Lead and approve commercial bid evaluations, review supplier exceptions and deviations, and support sales costing evaluations
• Negotiate pricing, delivery, payment terms, warranties and contractual terms, and manage claims, variations and disputes
• Monitor manufacturing progress, coordinate inspections, FATs and witness points, and resolve supply chain disruptions
• Ensure compliance with company policies, ESG standards and project specifications, and support internal and external audits
• Maintain procurement records in SAP, prepare reports on cost savings, supplier performance and KPIs, and mentor Procurement Engineers

Required profile

• 10-15 years of procurement experience in EPC, Oil & Gas, Energy, Chemical, Process Equipment or Industrial Manufacturing
• Proven experience with engineered equipment, major project buyouts and complex projects across Engineering, Projects, Operations, Quality and Supply Chain
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial Engineering or Supply Chain Management, or equivalent
• English communication; familiarity with SAP and willingness to learn digital procurement
