Senior Software Engineer – Real‑Time Payments

About the role

Mastercard is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join its Real‑Time Payments (RTP) program. You will design, develop, test, and support software components that power instant, account‑to‑account payments across multiple markets. The role requires a production‑first mindset and the ability to deliver complex features with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement microservice‑based components and event‑driven messaging services.
• Translate functional and non‑functional requirements into maintainable, high‑quality code.
• Deliver end‑to‑end features, including development, testing, deployment, and documentation.
• Write clean, efficient, testable code following Mastercard engineering standards.
• Develop and maintain automated unit, integration, and component tests.
• Participate in code reviews, identify defects, and resolve performance or reliability issues.
• Apply secure coding practices and ensure compliance with security requirements.
• Incorporate observability, logging, metrics, and alerts to support operational readiness.
• Assist with production readiness checks and deployment activities.
