Software Engineer – Payments Growth

About the role

Google’s Consumer Payments Growth team in Singapore is looking for a Software Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable backend services that drive user engagement across Google’s global payments ecosystem. You will work on high‑throughput APIs, real‑time decision pipelines, and growth‑focused features that enable financial rewards and low‑latency signal aggregation.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain distributed backend services, micro‑services, and APIs supporting payment growth initiatives.
• Design real‑time decisioning pipelines, financial rewards settlement systems, and stateful quest engines.
• Collaborate with product, UX, data science, risk, and security teams across Singapore and the US to deliver resilient, high‑scale production systems.
• Participate in schema lifecycle management, transaction isolation, and idempotency pattern implementation for distributed relational databases.
• Contribute to experimentation platforms and evaluate incremental user behavior.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 2 years of software engineering experience with Java, C++, Go, or Python.
• Proven experience designing, building, and operating scalable back‑end distributed systems or micro‑services.
• Ability to work on complex, high‑throughput systems in a fast‑paced environment.

Required skills
