Solution Architect – InterSystems HealthShare

About the role

The HealthShare Architect is a senior leadership position responsible for defining the strategic vision, design, and governance of the organization’s Health Information Exchange (HIE) platform built on InterSystems HealthShare and IRIS for Health. The role ensures the solution is scalable, secure, compliant with healthcare regulations, and aligned with the broader enterprise IT strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Define the technical roadmap and future‑state architecture for InterSystems HealthShare, including on‑premise, cloud, or hybrid deployment models.
• Lead design and implementation of large‑scale clinical data integrations and workflows using InterSystems IRIS/HealthConnect, focusing on high availability and performance.
• Serve as the top‑tier technical authority for HealthShare components such as Unified Care Record, Clinical Viewer, EMPI, and Care Management.
• Establish and enforce development, configuration, and security standards for all HealthShare integrations and custom applications.
• Guide teams on best practices for ObjectScript, DTL, XSLT, and BPL development within the Interoperability Production environment.
• Define strategy for implementing and migrating to HL7 FHIR and other modern interoperability standards.
• Manage security configuration, including authentication, authorization, consent management, and data masking.
• Mentor developers and analysts, conduct code/design reviews, and collaborate with business analysts, infrastructure teams, and external HIE partners.

Required profile

• 10+ years of progressive experience in Healthcare IT, with at least 5 years focused on architecting solutions using InterSystems HealthShare or Ensemble/Cache.
• Prior experience managing HealthShare and/or IRIS implementations.
• Deep, demonstrable expertise across the full InterSystems technology stack.
• Strong knowledge of healthcare interoperability standards and regulatory requirements (HIPAA, FHIR, HL7).
