Staff Engineer / Senior Engineer, Product Design

About the role

The Staff Engineer / Senior Engineer, Product Design will lead the design, development, documentation, and testing of mechanical subsystems for a high‑performance semiconductor assembly machine. You will act as the primary technical liaison with development partners and coordinate joint mechanical and mechatronic activities.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a design team to perform root‑cause analysis on process or machine escalations and recommend solutions.
• Serve as technical expert for multiple subsystems, ensuring performance, reliability, manufacturability, and cost targets.
• Coordinate design completion from concept through production, including budgeting where applicable.
• Lead prototype fabrication, testing, data analysis, and reporting.
• Oversee Bill of Materials for the machine, accessories, and kits.
• Integrate subsystems into a CAD model comprising over 2,000 unique components.
• Provide customer‑facing troubleshooting, risk assessments, and support.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of precision mechanical engineering design experience.
• At least 3 years in a senior design‑team role.
• Full product‑cycle experience from concept to commercial realization.
• Strong knowledge of GD&T, low‑volume manufacturing, and mechanical engineering standards.

Required skills

• 3D CAD solid‑modeling (NX, ProEngineer)
• Finite Element Modeling (Nastran or equivalent)
• Thermal, fluid, motion, vibration, and pneumatic system analysis
• Servo, pneumatic actuators, stepper and other drive/sensing methods
• Bill of Materials management
• Risk assessment and analysis
• GD&T and mechanical engineering standards
• MS Office for reporting and documentation
