Zemax Application Engineer – Optical Design

About the role

CADFEM Singapore is seeking a Zemax Application Engineer to support customers in applying optical design and simulation solutions. The role combines technical consulting, product demonstrations, training, and pre‑sales support using Zemax OpticStudio and related tools.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical support and application consulting for Zemax OpticStudio and other optical simulation solutions.
• Translate customer requirements into appropriate optical design and simulation approaches.
• Deliver product demos, technical presentations, workshops, and training sessions.
• Assist the sales team with pre‑sales activities, including requirement analysis and solution proposals.
• Create application examples, tutorials, and use cases to showcase Zemax capabilities.
• Help customers model imaging, illumination, stray‑light, tolerancing, optimization, and performance analysis.
• Troubleshoot simulation challenges and recommend suitable solutions.
• Collaborate with internal and regional teams to share knowledge and develop customer solutions.
• Support seminars, webinars, and other technical events.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Optical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Electrical/Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
• Fresh graduates are welcome; candidates with up to one year of relevant experience are also considered.
• Strong understanding of geometrical and physical optics, optical system design, and engineering principles.
• Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences.

Required skills

• Zemax OpticStudio (strong knowledge preferred).
• Familiarity with other optical design tools such as CODE V, LightTools, ASAP, TracePro.
• Experience with MATLAB or Python for optical modelling.
• Knowledge of lens design, illumination & imaging systems, stray‑light analysis, tolerance analysis, MTF, and non‑sequential optical modelling.
