Application Support Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an Application Support Engineer to maintain and support Java J2EE applications in a fast‑paced environment. The role involves monitoring batch jobs, troubleshooting incidents and ensuring high availability of critical services.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 1st‑ and 2nd‑level support for Java/J2EE applications, JBOSS and MariaDB databases.
• Monitor and manage batch jobs, job scheduling and MQ/C:D setups where applicable.
• Investigate and resolve performance, connectivity and SQL query issues on Unix/Linux platforms.
• Collaborate with development teams to reproduce defects and implement fixes.
• Maintain documentation and adhere to Service Level Agreements, including night, weekend and public‑holiday coverage.

Required profile

• Graduate degree in IT, Computer Science or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in application support or development.
• Strong interpersonal skills, ownership mindset and ability to work in shift patterns.
• Eagerness to learn and adapt to new technologies.

Required skills

• Java / J2EE development and troubleshooting.
• Unix/Linux command line and shell scripting.
• SQL query writing and experience with MariaDB.
• Knowledge of JBOSS application server.
• Familiarity with job scheduling tools and MQ (optional).
• Exposure to banking industry environments (a plus).
