College Intern – R&D Mechanical Engineer

About the role

HP is looking for a College Intern in R&D Mechanical Engineering in Singapore. The intern works with the R&D team on printer product development, from design intent through to prototype, and helps define test specifications and validation methods.

Key responsibilities

• Work with the R&D team on printer product development.
• Document design rules across areas of product design.
• Use CAD software to design mechanical parts for printers.
• Use simulation and artificial intelligence software to assess design robustness.
• Carry out the design process from design intent to actual prototype.
• Establish optimized machine settings and test specifications to maximize yield while reducing cycle time.
• Develop loss functions with statistical tests to validate test specifications and filter defects.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Able to commit to a full-time internship around May 2027 for 5 to 6 months.
• Excellent analytical thinking, project management and problem-solving skills.
• Fundamental knowledge of mechanical product design.
• Passion for hands-on projects.

Required skills

• CAD software for mechanical drawing (an added advantage)
• Practical experience applying AI tools such as ChatGPT to support engineering problem analysis (an added advantage)
