TIG Welder - Precision Sheet Metal Fabrication

About the role

NTS Singapore is looking for a TIG welder to specialise in stainless steel and carbon steel precision sheet-metal fabrication and welded assemblies. The welder produces high-quality welds that meet engineering, dimensional, quality and cosmetic standards.

Key responsibilities

• Perform TIG (GTAW) welding on stainless steel, carbon steel and aluminium components, including thin sheet metal, frames, covers, brackets, structures and assemblies
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, welding symbols, dimensions and tolerances
• Set up TIG welding equipment, choose welding parameters, joint configurations and sequences
• Prepare, fit, align, clamp and tack components using jigs and fixtures to keep dimensional accuracy
• Control heat input and welding sequence to minimise distortion and meet penetration, strength, profile and cosmetic standards
• Identify and prevent welding defects, grind, blend, inspect visually and repair or rework as required
• Maintain welding equipment, tools and fixtures and follow safety, quality, 5S and manufacturing procedures

Required profile

• 2-5 years of hands-on TIG welding experience, with strong experience in stainless steel and carbon steel
• Experience in precision and thin sheet-metal TIG welding highly preferred
• Able to set welding parameters independently according to material type and thickness
• Able to read engineering drawings, welding symbols, dimensions and tolerances
• Able to produce clean, cosmetically acceptable welds and work independently with minimal supervision

• Knowledge of filler materials, shielding gases, tungsten selection and welding techniques
• Distortion control
