Data Science Analyst – AI/ML (Generative AI)

About the role

American Express is looking for a highly motivated Data Science Analyst to drive the development of cutting‑edge Generative AI solutions. You will work closely with Technology, Marketing, Servicing, and Risk teams to translate business challenges into scalable AI prototypes.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement proof‑of‑concept prototypes for AI/ML and Generative AI aligned with business objectives.
• Write clean, efficient, and well‑documented code for data processing, model training, and deployment.
• Collaborate with the Technology team to integrate AI solutions into existing platforms.
• Run experiments to evaluate model performance and optimise algorithms for scalability.
• Stay current with AI/ML trends and share insights with the team.
• Participate in technical discussions and forums across the organisation.

Required profile

• Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in a quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics.
• Strong programming skills in at least one language (e.g., Python, Java, C++).
• Familiarity with machine‑learning libraries and frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit‑learn).
• Extensive experience in machine learning, NLP, and Generative AI, with a proven ability to build end‑to‑end prototypes.
• Understanding of Large Language Models and practical experience with Generative AI.
• Data‑processing knowledge (SQL, BigQuery) is a plus.
