Design Manager - Large-Scale Capital Projects

About the role

Turner & Townsend, a global professional services company with over 22,000 people in more than 60 countries, is looking for a Design Manager in Singapore. The role leads a multidisciplinary design team delivering integrated design solutions across project facilities, working closely with Process and Engineering teams and serving as the main interface with engineering partners.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a multidisciplinary design team and coordinate BIM/model reviews, including review areas, schedules, clash detection and design quality.
• Support detailed project schedules and project cost estimates, and partner with Quality teams on quality standards.
• Incorporate EHS&S considerations into designs, covering constructability, commissioning, operability and maintainability.
• Monitor design quality, progress and performance KPIs, and review and approve critical design elements and engineering deliverables.
• Lead engineering initiatives for cost optimization, schedule improvement and risk mitigation, and give input on procurement and contracting strategies such as modularization, skid-mounted systems and off-site fabrication.
• Manage the handover of design activities between engineering and project execution teams, and provide field engineering support during construction so installations follow approved designs and specifications.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of experience in engineering, design or project delivery on large-scale capital projects.
• Proven senior leadership experience managing multidisciplinary engineering and design teams, and a track record delivering projects from design through construction, commissioning and startup.
• Strong stakeholder management across consultants, contractors and project teams, and experience managing engineering and design across multiple locations.
• Willingness to travel and flexibility to work across project phases and locations.
• Preferred: experience in highly regulated industries (pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, semiconductors, advanced manufacturing), greenfield capital investment projects, and familiarity with BIM/3D design coordination.
