Senior Maritime Structures Engineer

About the role

BMT, a global maritime consultancy, is looking for a Senior Consultant-level Maritime Civil Structures Engineer to join its Coastal and Maritime team in Singapore. The role covers coastal and offshore projects, including terminal and port development, and suits engineers with a specialty in Coastal or Maritime Structures, Port Engineering or Coastal Modelling.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to a range of coastal and offshore projects, including terminal and port development for private and public sector clients.
• Write proposals and support business development and customer relationship management.
• Act as Project Design Manager for small to large projects and lead engagement with the end client.
• Lead the design of coastal infrastructure across Singapore and the APAC region, including jetties, marinas, wharves, boat ramps, breakwaters, seawalls and revetments.
• Work in a cross-discipline team with coastal engineers, mechanical/electrical engineers, oceanographers, environmental scientists, naval architects, GIS and approvals specialists.
• Lead internally on maritime structures, conduct reviews and help develop templates and workflows.
• Mentor less experienced team members.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering (master's an advantage).
• 5+ years of post-graduation experience in a technical consultancy.
• Experience in coastal structures, piers and port engineering, maritime defence infrastructure, LNG ports/terminals or equivalent.
• Strong experience in engineering consulting, including writing proposals and managing customers or external stakeholders.
• Relevant registration with a recognised engineering or environmental body.
• Unrestricted and permanent work rights in Singapore.
• Strong English; secondary language in Malay, Mandarin, Tamil, Burmese or Bahasa is desirable.

Required skills

• Knowledge of Singaporean, Australian and international standards for coastal structures such as seawalls, revetments, breakwaters and groynes.
• Proposal writing and project design leadership.
