Fleet Superintendent

About the role

The Fleet Superintendent oversees the safe and efficient operation of assigned vessels, ensuring that maintenance planning, execution and control meet company standards. This executive‑level position combines technical oversight with budgetary responsibility across the fleet.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain full knowledge of Company Regulations, SOLAS, MARPOL and other statutory requirements and keep vessels up‑to‑date.
• Set realistic budgets for each ship and monitor expenditure, fuel, diesel and lube oil consumption.
• Monitor technical and operational issues via vessel correspondence and third‑party reports.
• Ensure the Planned Maintenance System (PMS) is accurate and corrective actions are taken.
• Manage spare‑gear inventory and procurement in line with PMS data.
• Visit each vessel at least twice a year, produce technical reports and recommend improvements.
• Prepare and supervise dry‑dock/refit specifications, ensuring work is completed on time and within budget.
• Coordinate ship certification, classification surveys and defect closure.
• Oversee vessel disbursements, purchase orders and vendor quotations.
• Attend Crew Conferences in Poland bi‑annually.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in marine operations and vessel maintenance.
• Strong understanding of international maritime regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL) and company quality systems.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, fuel consumption and inventory.
• Excellent analytical and reporting skills.
