The leader keeps the site safe, reliable and inspection-ready, working closely with Operations, Engineering and Project teams, as well as external suppliers and contractors. The role suits a clear problem solver and coach who drives continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership, supervision and technical guidance to Electrical & Automation Technicians, ensuring safe and reliable maintenance execution.
  • Oversee maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of electrical, automation and instrumentation systems to maximise equipment uptime and support zero accidents, zero defects and zero waste.
  • Keep electrically driven equipment and systems (HV/LV switchboards, transformers, UPS, battery chargers, capacitor banks, emergency generators) in good condition.
  • Plan, prioritise and deliver scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, shutdowns and equipment handovers, coordinating with Production and Utilities.
  • Support capital projects and equipment modifications, including installation, commissioning, qualification and handover, in line with GSK Engineering and Quality standards.
  • Manage contractors and external suppliers, defining scope clearly and following up on performance.
  • Coach and develop technicians using GSK development frameworks (e.g. 70/20/10) and drive reliability initiatives such as root cause analysis and CAPA implementation.
  • Ensure maintenance complies with EHS, cGMP, GEP, GDP and GSK standards, and keep accurate records in the site CMMS (e.g. SAP).

Required profile

  • Diploma or degree in Electrical, Mechatronic or related engineering.
  • Minimum 7 years of hands-on engineering experience in a regulated manufacturing environment (pharmaceutical, food, medical devices, chemical).
  • Experience supervising technicians or leading small maintenance teams, and practical experience in commissioning and qualification of electrical and automation systems.
  • Knowledge of EHS, quality, cGMP, GEP and GDP in manufacturing.
  • Preferred: pharmaceutical manufacturing experience, familiarity with GAMP and validation, experience with maintenance management systems (SAP, CMMS), capital project delivery, continuous improvement or reliability engineering, and formal electrical qualifications such as ATEX or LEW registration.
