IT Security Specialist – Information Security Department

About the role

The National Institute of Education (NIE) is seeking an IT Security Specialist to join its Information Security Department. The role focuses on protecting the Institute’s digital assets through incident response, vulnerability management, and security project delivery.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor and analyse security events and alerts from SIEM and other security platforms.
• Perform triage, investigation and documentation of potential incidents across endpoints, networks, applications and cloud environments.
• Escalate confirmed incidents and collaborate with senior analysts, MSSP and internal teams for remediation.
• Contribute to detection rule tuning, incident response playbooks and SOC workflow improvements.
• Correlate vulnerability findings and threat intelligence to support proactive risk reduction.
• Evaluate and integrate new security technologies to enhance operations.
• Support the delivery of cybersecurity projects, including requirements gathering, testing, implementation and documentation.
• Coordinate with internal teams and vendors, track project progress and assist with user acceptance testing.

Required profile

• University degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Cybersecurity or a related field.
• Professional certification in incident handling or security analysis (e.g., GCIH) preferred.
