Laser Assembly Technician

About the role

Excelitas is seeking a Laser Assembly Technician to build and test laser base assemblies for a range of photonic applications. The role involves hands‑on work in a high‑precision manufacturing environment, ensuring assemblies meet strict quality and safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Build laser base assemblies and test complex laser assemblies, including polishing, optical and laser testing, and measurement integration.
• Perform mechanical, electrical, and optical assembly and testing operations.
• Operate vacuum systems and ensure proper ESD control for sensitive components.
• Execute fiber optics termination and collimation/alignment tasks.
• Clean parts and assemblies, pack finished products, and complete electronic records.
• Collaborate with leadership to improve processing times and train fellow employees.
• Adhere to safety, quality, material‑control policies and maintain high workmanship standards.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by recommending preventative and corrective measures.

Required profile

• GCE ‘O’ Level or Technical Certificate (or equivalent).
• Minimum 3 years experience in electrical/electronic manufacturing.
• Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Compliance with QMEHS (Quality, Environment, Safety, Health) requirements.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and data recording in spreadsheets or process‑control systems.
• Dexterity handling small components and following precise instructions.
