Legal Counsel (Commercial) – Contract

About the role

Our client, an insurance technology company, is seeking an experienced Commercial Legal Counsel to join its in‑house legal team in Singapore on a contract basis. The role will involve handling a wide range of commercial, contractual and compliance matters across regional operations, with the possibility of conversion to a permanent position.

Key responsibilities

• Draft, review and negotiate commercial technology agreements such as SaaS, PaaS, partnership and vendor contracts.
• Lead or support cross‑border negotiations across APAC and other English‑speaking markets.
• Provide legal and regulatory advice for multiple jurisdictions.
• Develop new template contracts and playbooks to meet evolving business needs.
• Deliver ad‑hoc legal and compliance support as directed by the General Counsel.

Required profile

• Common‑law qualified lawyer with 5‑10 years post‑qualification experience in both law firms and in‑house teams.
• Law degree from a leading common‑law jurisdiction (e.g., UK, Hong Kong, Singapore).
• Strong commercial acumen and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced, cross‑functional environment.
• Experience negotiating with large technology companies across APAC and exposure to TMT, internet, cloud or SaaS/PaaS work.
• Excellent English proficiency and outstanding legal drafting and interpretation skills.
