Marine Claims Senior Executive

About the role

The Marine Claims Senior Executive will lead the end‑to‑end handling of marine liability and cargo claims for Zurich, from first notice through settlement. The role combines investigative work, technical assessment, and coordination with legal and survey experts to protect the company’s financial exposure.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of marine liability and cargo claims, ensuring timely investigation, reserving and settlement.
• Appoint and oversee external surveyors, adjusters, maritime lawyers and other experts.
• Review shipping documents, bills of lading and commercial contracts to identify risk exposures.
• Negotiate settlements and pursue recovery actions such as sub‑rogation and salvage.
• Provide clear claim recommendations and settlement strategies based on technical assessments.
• Maintain accurate claim records, produce reports and support process‑improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Degree or diploma in Insurance, Maritime Studies, Business, Logistics, Law or related field.
• 5–8 years of dedicated marine claims experience within an insurer, broker, loss adjusting firm or similar environment.
• Working knowledge of marine cargo, freight forwarders liability, logistics liability and related products.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Proven capability to handle high‑pressure, cross‑border disputes.
