Mechatronics Engineer (New Product Development)

About the role

BeeX is developing advanced Hovering Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (HAUVs) and needs a Mechatronics Engineer to lead new product development. You will design mechanical systems, integrate electronics, and conduct sea‑trials in Singapore, working closely with a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement the overall mechanical systems of HAUVs, including components, mechanisms, and electronics housings using CAD.
• Perform Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics simulations to verify structural integrity and stress performance.
• Create 2D fabrication drawings, assemble prototypes, and test them in workshop and real‑world environments.
• Conduct sea‑trials, evaluate mechanical designs, and iterate based on field data.
• Develop power‑electronics, wire‑harnesses, and firmware for microcontrollers (Atmega, ARM) to control sensors and actuators.
• Bench‑test and field‑test sensors, components, and complete vehicles, documenting performance.
• Execute stress testing for thermal, vibration, EMI‑EMC, and humidity conditions.
• Gather user requirements with management and customers, and define test procedures for quality control and regulatory compliance.

Required skills

• SolidWorks (or equivalent CAD) and 3D printing, laser cutting, CNC, welding, composites manufacturing.
• Finite Element Analysis and CFD tools such as ANSYS or OpenFOAM.
• Battery‑operated design, embedded systems, microcontrollers (Atmega, ARM), sensor and actuator interfacing.
• Low‑voltage power electronics design, boost/buck converters, power regulation and protection.
• Altium Designer or equivalent PCB CAD, wire‑harness and cable‑assembly design software.
• C++ programming for embedded systems; Python for high‑level interfacing is a plus.
• Git and version‑control systems.
• Experience with EMI‑EMC, vibration, temperature and humidity testing is advantageous.
