Medical Technologist

About the role

We are seeking a diligent Medical Technologist to join our laboratory team. The role involves processing patient samples, performing a wide range of diagnostic tests, and ensuring high‑quality results for clinicians and patients.

Key responsibilities

• Register patient samples, handle client telephone inquiries, and manage printing/faxing of results.
• Perform diverse laboratory tests and procedures, reviewing pending tests and documenting delays.
• Conduct daily quality‑control checks, discuss issues with the section‑in‑charge, and implement corrective actions.
• Carry out routine maintenance of laboratory instruments and report any malfunctions to the appropriate parties.
• Validate minor equipment (thermometer, pipette, timer, blood box) on a six‑monthly basis.
• Participate in inter‑laboratory and external quality‑assurance programs, including proficiency testing.
• Monitor inventory of consumables and reagents, prepare stock order forms, and ensure timely replenishment.
• Read and apply laboratory policies, manuals, SOPs and contribute to annual quality‑improvement projects.
• Maintain compliance with safety regulations and report non‑compliance for corrective action.

Required profile

• Diploma or degree in a relevant scientific field.
• Minimum of two years’ experience working in a clinical laboratory environment.
