NDT Lead Engineer

About the role

The NDT Lead Engineer will head the non‑destructive testing team for yard activities, ensuring all inspections meet client specifications and international standards. You will coordinate with subcontractors, mentor junior staff, and provide technical support across projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and supervise NDT personnel, reviewing inspection findings and reports.
• Ensure compliance with ASME, AWS, ISO, API, DNV, ABS and client specifications.
• Manage yard NDT activities and coordinate with NDT subcontractors.
• Develop, review and approve NDT procedures and techniques.
• Conduct risk assessments and lead safety processes for NDT work.
• Organise project‑specific inductions, workshops and tool‑box talks.
• Perform audits of NDT contractors and maintain equipment calibration.
• Provide technical support and audit programming for company‑wide NDT activities.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical, Materials or Metallurgy Engineering.
• NDT Level III certification (ISO 9712) covering RT, UT, MT, PT & PAUT.
• Minimum 10 years of experience managing structural and piping fabrication yard NDT activities in EPC projects.
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards.
