Network Engineer

About the role

NCS, a technology services firm operating across the Asia Pacific region, is looking for a detail-oriented and analytical Network Engineer to join its IT infrastructure team in Singapore. The role covers designing, implementing and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure so that it performs well, stays secure and remains reliable, working with cross-functional teams on network operations, troubleshooting and continuous improvement.

Key responsibilities

• Design, deploy and maintain LAN/WAN network infrastructure using industry-standard equipment and technologies.
• Configure and manage routing and switching protocols to ensure connectivity, performance and reliability.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose network issues and monitor performance and traffic patterns to optimize efficiency and inform capacity planning.
• Implement and maintain network security measures such as firewalls, access control lists, VPN configurations and security policies.
• Document configurations, changes, procedures and technical solutions clearly.
• Support network upgrades, migrations and infrastructure improvements with IT teams and stakeholders.
• Carry out regular network assessments and give data-driven recommendations for enhancements.
• Respond to network incidents and provide technical support within agreed timeframes and service levels.
• Stay current with best practices, emerging technologies and vendor updates.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in network engineering, network administration or related IT infrastructure roles.
• Ability to troubleshoot network issues systematically and resolve them efficiently.
• Strong organizational, documentation and technical writing skills, and excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Clear verbal and written communication, able to explain technical concepts.
• Experience with incident response and change management processes.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, network architecture and networking fundamentals.
• Hands-on experience with routing and switching equipment from major vendors (Cisco, Juniper, Arista or equivalent).
• Proficiency in LAN/WAN configuration, management and optimization.
• Understanding of network security fundamentals and protocols.

Preferred: CCNA, CCNP or equivalent certification; cloud networking and hybrid networks; network monitoring and diagnostic tools; ITSM frameworks; network automation, scripting (Python, Bash) and infrastructure-as-code; SDN and network virtualization; project management experience.
